How to Get More LinkedIn Connections

Getting more connections on LinkedIn is easy. Here’s how you should approach the process.

How can you get even more connections on your LinkedIn? I’m here with some tips for you today.

One of the best practices for growing your LinkedIn network is by consistently sending out invitations to those people you connect with outside of LinkedIn. Maybe it’s someone you met at a networking event, or a Facebook friend. Reach out to them and ask if you can send them a LinkedIn request. Send an email that goes like this: “I’d love to connect with you on LinkedIn and learn how we might be able to support each other’s businesses. Keep an eye out for my request.”

Asking in person is just as effective, if not more so. If you’re at a networking event and exchange cards with someone, ask them right there if they are on LinkedIn and if you can send them a connection request.

Each connection you make widens your network.

If you do this consistently, you will realize something. Each connection you make has even more secondary connections, and you never know where those will lead. I recently made a connection with someone who was looking for a commercial lender. I couldn’t help them myself, but I could connect them with someone I know who is in that line of work. That’s a win-win for all parties involved. It’s all about connecting the dots.

LinkedIn is one of the best places to find the professionals you want to work with. It helps you learn about them, meet them, and be a resource. I heard a quote once that goes like this: “You should treat celebrities like ordinary people and ordinary people like celebrities.” Utilizing this attitude when sending out invitations on LinkedIn is a great practice, and will really help you grow your business.

If you have any questions for me, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. Remember that if you aren’t LinkedIn, you will be left out. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
