How to Prepare for Upcoming Changes to LinkedIn

Microsoft recently bought LinkedIn, so change is on the horizon. Today I’ll go over three ways you can prepare for any changes to LinkedIn.

Microsoft recently purchased LinkedIn for over $26 billion, so the new year will come with some changes. Today, I’ll go over a few tips so that you can be prepared.

First of all, make sure that you have a picture of your entire profile. You can use the snipping tool or any other tool to capture a photo of the entire profile. Get everything because if something changes, you don’t want to have to go in and recreate the whole thing.

Export all of your connections
on a regular basis.

Secondly, rumor has it that LinkedIn will no longer allow you to move job positions around in any order that you want. Make sure that everything is arranged the way you want it now because you may not be able to fix it later.

Most importantly, make sure you export all of your connections on a regular basis. You can do that yourself, or you can go a step further. Under your LinkedIn photo, go to privacy settings. Then, go to the drop-down menu and ask LinkedIn to send you an archive of all your data. That way, you will have all of your connections.

We don’t know if these features will be available next year, so it’s best to stay ahead of the curve. If you have any other questions, just give me a call or send me an email. I would be happy to help you!

  1. Hi Rhonda -- I had NO idea about the archived data! Thanks for that tip; I've requested it.
